Admission Requirements for International Students 

High School Graduates: You must present documents that support proof that you have completed what would be equivalent to the United States high school.

Academic Records: Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended must be mailed directly to the GateWay Director of Admissions and Records.  Transcripts must be translated into English.

English Proficiency: A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 500, or equivalent, as determined by the Director of Admissions and Records, is required.  The TOEFL test results must be mailed directly from the Educational Testing Services to the Director of Admissions and Records.

For information on dates and locations of the TOEFL examination in your country, contact the United States Information Service at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate.  TOEFL information is on the Web at http://www.toefl.org/. You may contact TOEFL testing by calling  609-951-1100 or fax your request for information to TOEFL at 609-771-7681.

International Student Information Form:  The International Student Information Form (application for admission), part of the International Student Program Information Packet, must be completed in full and requires your signature. Mail the completed form to the Director of Admissions and Records.


Evidence of Financial Coverage: GateWay Community College has no provision for financial aid for international students. You must come fully prepared to meet all of your financial obligations including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Tuition and fees for your college studies.
  • Books and supplies for your college studies.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Housing and living expenses.

The Evidence of Financial Support form, part of the International Student Program Information Packet, must be completed in full and returned with supporting documentation to the Director of Admissions and Records.

Recommended Deadlines: It is strongly recommended that all required paperwork be submitted at least six (6) months in advance from the time you wish to begin attending GateWay Community College.

Suggested deadline for classes which begin in January (Spring semester) is the previous July 1.

Suggested deadline for classes which begin in August (Fall semester) is the previous December 1.
